Albanian COST Action COREnet member Dr. Anila Sulaj from the Agricultural University of Tirana has recently visited Universidade Aberta in Lisbon (Portugal) to conduct her Short-Term (STSM) Scientific Mission on collaborative research on Systematic Review. The host of the visit was Assoc. Prof. Bárbara Bäskcström, a lecturer at the Social Sciences and Management Department. This STSM is funded by the COST Action COREnet.

The objectives of her STSM aimed to enrich theoretical and practical approaches to the Systematic Review on mothers’ role in the resettlement and integration process of migrated families from a religious perspective. This research is expected to contribute to the exchange of knowledge and build a bridge for further collaborations.

What I liked the most was the opportunity to deepen my understanding of conducting a Systematic Review, learning about practical tools to collect, conduct and write a Systematic Review, and receiving valuable insights and useful feedback from the supervisor. Thanks to Assoc. Prof. Bárbara Bäckström for being a marvellous host and guiding me with responsibility and dedication. The experience helped me better understand the academic debates that are being raised on the topic of migrant families”.

This STSM will be followed up by a collective article and further research projects based on the materials collected and contacts established during the STSM.

What is a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) within COREnet?

A Short-Term Scientific Mission, funded by the COST Action COREnet, consists of a visit to a host organization located in a different country to the country of affiliation of a Researcher in order to carry out specific work as part of a research project. In addition to research purposes, Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are aimed to support researchers’ individual mobility, to strengthen existing networks and to foster collaboration between individuals. The purpose of a STSM is thus to gain new partnerships, to learn new techniques and to gain access to specific data, instruments and/or methods not available in their own institutions/organizations.
