Abstract:

Join us for an episode with Dr. Gülay Uğur Göksel as we explore the role of art in transcultural crossings, fostering social cohesion within migrant and local communities. Dr. Göksel will share insights from her art-based participatory projects, including the “Living Together” summer camp, “The Other Stories”, and the Rebloom festival. These initiatives utilize art-based participatory methods to bridge cultural divides, nurture empathy, and create spaces for collective storytelling and solidarity. This episode provides a unique perspective on how art and participatory action research facilitate transcultural dialogue and resilience in migration contexts.

Dr. Gülay Uğur Göksel is an Associate Professor of International Relations at Istanbul Bilgi University and a member of COREnet and Association for Migration Research (GAR). With a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder, her research bridges political theory and migration studies, focusing on social cohesion, identity, and the role of art in community engagement.
