Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate for the rights of refugees and others who are forcibly displaced.

The Society of Jesus (Jesuits) founded JRS in 1980 in response to the plight of the Vietnamese boat people. The then-Superior General of the Jesuits, Fr Pedro Arrupe, was deeply moved by their suffering and felt compelled to respond.

We are a local civil society organisation which provides services directly to the people in need and most vulnerable groups. Most of our activities are directed at providing free legal and psychosocial support to people on the move, asylum seekers and refugees in Serbia, as a final non-EU country on the Balkan refugee route. With the constant presence on the ground and direct communication with people on the move, we are monitoring and reporting on migration developments, state policies and new migration routes on the Balkans. _x000D_

Our team is present on the weekly basis on the Serbian north borders where we provide our services to people on the move who are accommodated in informal settlements (squats) in northern border area between Serbia and EU member states: Croatia, Hungary and Romania. Core of our work is providing legal counselling (minimum of basic legal information about asylum system and their rights and obligation under the law) and psychosocial support, but we are also trying to provide people with the humanitarian aid (food, tents, blankets, hygiene items) which is much needed in these informal settlements. Additionally, the team monitors violent push backs (collective expulsions without due asylum procedure) from the EU Member States, and collects testimonies of violence by the border police officers and Frontex.

Mission:

ADRA (a global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church) delivers relief and development assistance (disaster relief, psycho-social support to vulnerable groups, prevention and protection against gender-based violence, economic empowerment of vulnerable groups) to individuals and communities in more than 130 countries regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation or religious association. It established the Community Center in Belgrade to serve the local community and provide gathering, assistance and integration space especially for those struggling with poverty, injustice and obstacles in enjoying their basic rights. The Center became a social hub for individuals and groups, as well as a place for interaction and collaboration of the private, civil and public sector.

Asylum Protection Center (APC/CZA ) is an association that provides legal and psychological support to asylum seekers , persons who granted protection of Serbia and all other persons who are in trouble migrating. APC/CZA order to improve the Institute of asylum and the asylum and refugee law in Serbia. Mission:

The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia is a special organization in the state administration that handles professional tasks related to refugees and migrants. It was established as the Commissariat for Refugees in 1992 in relation to wars in former Yugoslavia. The 2012 Law on Migration Management established The Commissariat as the central state institution responsible for a whole specter of activities: from providing aid and housing, over coordinating work of other involved organizations and institutions, facilitating return, assisting (re)integration, maintaining records and databases to advising the government on migration policy and monitoring the existing ones.
